Kripalu Yoga
Kripalu Yoga is a holistic practice of mindful living. Known as the “yoga of compassion and consciousness”, it’s a modern yoga style that can be adapted for any body.
In Nancy’s private or group classes, you’ll learn asana (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation to create more flexibility, strength, improved circulation and peace of mind.
The essence of Kripalu Yoga is to cultivate awareness of what you need moment to moment. You’ll learn to listen deeply to your body/mind and to awaken prana - your energy or life force. You’ll learn to take the unique process of Kripalu yoga – Breathe, Relax, Feel, Watch and Allow – off the mat into your daily life, cultivating compassion for yourself and offering it to others.
Meridian Yoga Therapy
Meridian Yoga Therapy systematically activates and balances prana in the energy pathways of the body. Special poses open each of the 14 major pathways – the meridians – to promote physical well-being, ease of motion and mental health.
Meridian Yoga stretches are safe and a therapy practice is customized for each client. Nancy will assist you into specific yoga stretches to improve muscle function as well as the internal organs associated with each pose.
Techniques include:
Resistance Stretching – a scientific method used by physical therapists. It is safe and has proven to be the most efficient way to elongate muscles and increase range of motion.
Shiatsu Massage – hands-on pressure complements the therapist-assisted stretching, increasing the circulation of energy
Yoga Breathing – activates energy and releases body tension
Meridian Yoga Therapy is safe and beneficial for anyone who wants to increase flexibility and health. It is also a wonderful therapy for athletes who may have shortened specific muscles through repetitive training practices for sports like weight lifting, running, biking or hiking. Yoga practitioners will be able to go deeper into poses and improve their practice.
